My name is Lucas Black and I have been in IT since I was a teenager. For the last two years, I have worked at a Solution Integrator and Value Added Reseller named Powerland that focuses on Storage, Backup and DR planning. In June 2021, I made a move back to IT security as well as management being tasked with building an MSSP service at Powerland and a security team.

I live and work in Calgary AB but support sales staff across Canada.

I have held positions in every level of IT; from Tier 1 Helpdesk to IT Manager, Solutions Architect, and the Security Manager that I am today. Working for a Solution Integrator is an amazing role as it requires the ability to work with and design every aspect of an environment, ensuring that all the pieces work together and is the best solution to meet the customer’s needs.

I will be posting to this site for a few different topics. First, as anyone in IT knows the process of learning never changes. I am always studying for new products or certifications. As I study for the major tests I will blog my materials and resources used for studying.

Secondly, when I come across a crazy fix to a problem I will do my best to post the resolution.

Finally, I get exposed to amazing technology and solutions every day. Some I am under strict NDA so I can’t discuss. For what I can talk about I will discuss what excites me about the tech and how I see it fitting together.
